yes this is Madras!!at 6 in d morning during sunrise,a picture taken from the chetpet overbridge For the past few years this lake had dried up but finally after the rains,we get 2 c this magnificent lake at its best!

full 'o' water!!this underbridge which is atleast 12 feet in depth was filled 2 the brim.what u dont c is a car and a bus which is under all this water!!

A car crushed(tho not completely seen) by a tree in Barnaby road.
This car is jus a testament of the other cars which took similar damage across the city.

IN THE BEACH
Sky meets sea meets "rain made" lake!huge puddles or lakes if u'd like 2 call it, were formed in the beaches.people near d shores and the beach were reminded of that black day when lands were engulfed by the mighty sea-The day of the tsunsmi......

This Banyan tree in Ritherdeon Rd was atleast 150 years old!

apporoach road 2 d egmore station was partially blocked by this fallen tree.A few more such trees in the vicinity took the fall as well.

On thursday the 27th of october,we saw Madras like never b4...atleast not in my lifetime.29cms of rainfall in aproxx 16 hrs of which 21cms came pouring down in jus 4-5hrs!it was raining cats dogs n even cows!power was cut in almost all parts of the city for the better half of the day and for some areas even the nxt day saw no power.this was 2 prevent electrocution(tho' sadly a sizable number did die due 2 it.)there was a lot of damage 2 life and property.people drowned ,a few electrocuted ,some washed away in currents.And the damage 2 property is unaccountabe so far!trees came crashing down on cars ,low lying areas with houses n shops were submerged in water and all this happend during the peak shopping season for Eid , Diwali and Christmas.in this blog i have attempted 2 show the beating madras took on that thursday with only a few pics cos my camera battery drained out when i went out for the shots!(and there was no power in my house so i couldnt even recharge!)Multiply what u see into 10 n that was the real scenario!
So far i have only spoken as if the rains were cursed!that not true cos these rains hve filled up small lakes and the dams which means we wont have water problems this summer!(ie. if amma alias jayalalitha doesnt find another excuse like"there was a hole in the dam n we lost all the water,so sorry.No water this year too!).We also got 2 c the city as green as it could be even tho' century old trees fell due 2 strong winds and d rain. hope u like these pics n enlarge them 2 see them better.ciao n happy blogging!
